Have you ever dreamed of getting married in Hawaii, but the thought was either too overwhelming or your best friends just couldn't make it that far? If so, you should check out the Crowne Plaza Mission Valley. From the outside it looks like a nice tropical hotel , but the inside is where the secret gardens and fountains await.
I have had the pleasure of visiting this venue recently (to plan our Jan 28th bridal show) and was very impressed with the layout of the hotel, garden setting and staff. While it might not be Hawaii, it does offer a beautiful outdoor tropical garden setting with plenty of room inside for a fabulous reception and dance floor.
One of the most convenient aspects is that the Crowne Plaza is a full service resort so your guests can stay overnight (or make it a vacation) and enjoy the pool and restaurants, plus very close to shopping, golf, spas and downtown San Diego. A win, win for everyone.
If you are looking for a garden wedding, this is one of the venues you must check out. Click the button to view more photos, contact info and wedding package info.

An estate may have a fascinating history, such as being frequented by notable historic figures (like ‘Charles Lindbergh used to socialize here,’ ‘This was a speakeasy during Prohibition’ and so on.) Historic and landmark venues were built during a time of fabulous detail-oriented design and may have undergone era-preserving and enhancing renovations; thus, the gorgeous building, stunning doors, fireplaces, balconies and ornate mosaic tiling. Their gardens and grounds are often dazzling, and their layout provides spectacular spaces for your wedding celebration areas. We asked our survey respondents how they feel about historic venues, and a noteworthy 34.2% said they love them.
Finding the right venue for your big day can be a difficult and time-consuming task. But in San Diego County, it is downright overwhelming! Our fair metropolis is considered a top wedding destination for both residents and out-of-towners because there are so many beautiful locales for exchanging vows—from the mountains to the valleys to the beach, and everywhere in between.
While on your venue hunt, remember these tips to narrow your search and ensure you choose the venue that is perfect for you:
Size matters, and so does style!
If you’re planning a rustic, vintage-chic wedding, then a modern restaurant with sleek lines in downtown is probably not for you. If you have a flair for the dramatic and dream of getting married on stage, then check out your local theaters! Bottom line: Know your style and work with it—not against it. If you pick a place that already has the feel or look you are going for, then it will be that much easier (and less costly!) to bring your wedding day vision to life.
All-inclusive has its perks
When it comes to wedding planning, there are so many decisions to make. Selecting a venue that not only provides the backdrop for your ceremony and reception but also includes catering, rentals, lighting, getting-ready rooms, an onsite coordinator, etc. can drastically cut down your to-do list, your stress levels, and help keep your overall budget in check. (It’s tempting to just rent a space and build a wedding from the ground up, but bringing everything in yourself adds up quickly!)
Location, location, location
While getting hitched and throwing a smashing party in the same place is ideal, it’s not always possible. If your ceremony will take place in your home church, for example, try to pick a reception location that is close by so your guests aren’t schlepping many miles (or hours) to be able to toast to you. Some may simply choose not to make the drive. But you also don’t want people getting lost, stuck in traffic (talk about a buzz-kill) or missing dinner.
Prioritize—and get ready for a reality check
While you want to find the perfect venue, you also must realize that the best venue for your wedding may not be “perfect.” (Unless, perhaps, you have an endless budget!) This is where setting priorities and a willingness to compromise—gasp!—is key. The color of the ballroom’s carpet or walls doesn’t match your wedding palette? Uplighting can work wonders to mask and distract. Hate the white folding chairs that come with your wedding package? Most venues will let you rent the ones you love from an outside company. Don’t let small, surmountable issues get in the way of saying "I do" to a really great space.
So yes, creating the “perfect” wedding can be a daunting task, but with the right venue as the foundation and a team of trusted vendors, your big day can truly be all you envisioned and more.

Dream Wedding at Down to Earth Prices
Utilize Local Resources to Reduce Big Budget Expenses
The staggering cost of having a wedding in San Diego County can be quite daunting to a couple planning the day of their dreams. Did you know that you can still have the event you envisioned without maxing out your credit cards? The key is creating a reasonable wedding budget, identifying what you can afford to spend, deciding what matters to you the most and allocating your dollars accordingly. Following are some budget tips to help you have a great wedding day, even on a shoestring budget.
Find a low-cost location
Schedule the event earlier in the day
Plan for the “off-season”
Use seasonal flowers that are locally available
Decorate strategically – focus on the highly visible areas and don’t sweat the small stuff
Put your friends and family to work
Reduce your guest list
Choosing your wedding reception site must be handled with careful thought and deliberation. The reception site is undeniably the most important piece of the wedding planning puzzle. Before meeting with the first facility manager, consider these important factors in determining the venue that is perfect for you.
1. Consider your personal style. Today's wedding receptions are about personality and creativity. This is your once in a lifetime event and a costly one at that. Take advantage of your time in the spotlight to put together an event that really shines.
2. Where do you want to get married? In your home town? In your fiancé’s home town? In the town where you currently live? Or even on a Caribbean island? With today's jet set couples, the possibilities really are endless. Don't be afraid to consider something different or unexpected.
